Simply Spray > Will it work for my project?
Simply Spray works on a huge range of materials including most natural fabrics, many synthetic blends, carpets and rugs, leather, canvas, even unfinished wood.
The product will not work any material that has been chemically treated for stain-resistance or water-proofing, nor shiny materials, vinyl, nylon, 100% polyester - moisture cannot penetrate these fibres.
First try this simple test with water.
-
Spray or sprinkle the material with water and see how it reacts.
-
If the water absorbs into the fabric, the paint will do the same.
- If the water sits on top of the fabric, or forms into beads, the paint may not take successfully.
-
Try rubbing the water in by hand. If it soaks in this way, it could work but may need more coats and hand-rubbing to get a good result, and may take longer to dry.
-
If the fabric is new, try washing first to remove any manufacturing residue, then test again.
-
If the fabric refuses to absorb moisture after rubbing and/or washing, do not proceed with the project.
Always wash new cotton t-shirts and fabric before starting.
Some chemical residue is usually left on cotton after the manufacturing process. This residue is water- resistant and for best results should removed by washing before Simply Spray is applied.
