CRACKLE EFFECT for the special crackle-look (e.g. for a vintage or used-look). Prior coating of your object is necessary with colors of Montana GOLD (recommended) or Montana WHITE (the thicker the base coat the stronger the effect). Give at least 45min but not more than 24hours drying time to the base coat before applying CRACKLE effect (drying time might vary due to temperature, humidity and thickness of coating). Apply spray strokes from left to right in a crossing over motion (cross-coating) for best results. After extensively applying CRACKLE Effect to your primed area, the distressing (cracking) process will begin to occur. The CRACKLE spray is high-covering and can be top-coated when fully dry and cured (after 24h) with Montana GOLD, Montana BLACK, Montana WHITE, Montana ACRYLIC markers as well as customary acrylic paints. Pre Priming with Montana Styrofoam primer is required for application on polystyrene (make sure to seal the surface completely). Color shown on top or donut.

EXAMPLES OF USE:
Vintage effects or used looks on objects like furniture or frames. Can also be used as structure coat. Perfect for all kind of Art, Fine Arts, Graffiti, DIY, Arts & Craft and Upcycling projects.
GENERAL INFORMATION:Â
Recommended working temperature for best results is between +10°C und +25°C. During application, protect the object and the surrounding area from spray mist. Surfaces should be dry, clean of dust, oils and rust before varnish application. Shake can well for 2-3 minutes upside down to take advantage of gravity. Remove the safety ring by removing the nozzle and turning the can upside down allowing it to fall out (Note: Montana Spray can products with a plastic lid on top do not have a safety ring). HOW TO USE:
The Crackle effects is based on two components, the Crackle color shade itself as well as a already primed surface. Prior coating in 2-3 thick layers of your object or surface is necessary to achieve the Crackle or Vintage look. You can prime your surface with any Color of Montana GOLD with the exception of chrome effects and metallic colors. Must be applied to completely dry base coat. During application, protect the object and the surrounding area from spray mist. Surfaces should be dry, clean of dust, oils and rust before varnish application. Shake can well for 2-3 minutes upside down to take advantage of gravity. Remove the safety ring by removing the nozzle and turning the can upside down allowing it to fall out. Then re-apply the nozzle.
Give at least 45min drying time to the primed surface / objects but not more than 24h before applying the CRACKLE Color. CRACKLE effect will vary with different drying times. Apply CRACKLE linearly (Piktogramm) evenly in thin layers. Thin application creates from a farer distance creates fine crackles, a stronger/ heavy coat application leads to bigger crackles. Crack growth depends also on room temperature and thickness of prior coating.
To achieve greater crackling effects, further application can be applied after 5 minutes. When applying CRACKLE Spray keep a distance tot he object of at least 15-20cm. You can reapply the CRACKLE Spray within 5 minutes after the first application – to painterover the first layer. This can be done max. 2 times. If CRACKLE is used as a structure coat it is recommended to paint over with Montana GOLD, BLACK or WHITE when fully dry. Always test spray on a non-visible area to check compatibility of lacquer or paint!
APPLICATION ON STYROFOAM:
Pre Priming with Montana STYROFOAM Primer is required. Please ensure that foam surface is completely sealed and all air pockets closed. This can be achieved by applying multiple thin even coats. Open air pockets may lead to paint solvents agitating the foam. Always test spray on a non-visible area to check compatibility of lacquer or paint.
WORKING TEMPERATURE:
Recommended working temperature is between +10°C und +25°C. Air Moisture max. 60%.
HEAT RESISTANCE:
up to 80°C
COMPATIBILITY:
Works only on Nitro-Combi / Synthetic or Acrylic lacquers (such as Montana GOLD). Recommended to use with colors of Montana GOLD Spray paint. Works not with Metallic or Chrome effects. Can be combined with Montana ACRYLIC Marker or traditional Acrylic colors. Can be painted over with Nitro Combi or Acrylic lacquers after fully dry (at least 24h). Must be fully dried (min. 24h) before sealed with Montana VARNISH matt, semi gloss or high-gloss.
DRYING TIMES:
at 20°C: dust dry after approx. 10 minutes. Dry to handle after approx. 60 min. Fully dried after 24hours. Drying time depends on room temperature, air moisture and thickness of coating.
SAFETY:
Before using please carefully read the cautions on product back side. Wear respirator mask and gloves to protect your skin and respiratory tract.
STORAGE:
For optimal lifespan, always store cans with the nozzle on. Always test spray on a non-visible area to check compatibility of lacquer or paint.
DISPOSAL:
Only completely emptied cans should be put into the recycling skip.
IMPORTANT: AEROSOL spray cans, due to Australian Post Regulation, are classified as dangerous goods and must always travel by road only – overnight trucks (cannot be sent by air). This means that even if you choose the Express shipping they won’t be delivered the next business day.
